Sun, salt and chlorine are the three things that undo good hair here. This is how we protect it.
A summer in Larnaca is harder on hair than a winter anywhere else. Salt water swells and dries the cuticle, chlorine strips tone, and the sun lifts colour every afternoon you spend outside.
Wet the hair with fresh water before swimming — hair that is already full of clean water absorbs less salt and chlorine. Add oil through the ends as a barrier, and tie it up.
Rinse as soon as you are out. Waiting until evening gives the salt hours to sit and set.
Once a week, use an intensive mask instead of conditioner. And if you are blonde, keep a toning shampoo in the shower from June onward — brass builds quietly, then all at once.
